Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween to everyone who passes through my blog today!

I have to be honest...I haven't always liked Halloween. I don't know why...it may be a matter of self confidence and not having enough. It could be a fear of having the worst costume - I'm competitive by nature. What's funny is that, as I grow older, the more I like the holiday.

Fall is a season of big change and it's beautiful. The colors of fall are something I've grown to appreciate and admire. Pumpkins, gourds, corn fields, leaves that look like fruity pebbles...

...and now when the time comes, the idea of dressing in costume is finally exciting to me. Maybe 31 year old Renee is more in tune with her 8 year-old-self again. Who knows?
It doesn't mean that it's not still hard to choose a costume.
Last year I had two!

In other, art related, news...I've been trying to get myself away from the computer as much as I can. The image on top is one of my first delves back into the land of watercolor. Many people don't know this about me but, before I was a digital artist, I actually painted with oil. However, oil paint is messy, smelly, time consuming, and I had a bad experience with a wet palette and a curious kitty. Oil paint doesn't come off!

But watercolor lets you be light, loose, and free. While I'm not exactly where I want to be with the medium yet, it sure is fun.

This was inspired by my friend Julia, who yesterday made her own little tribute to the weather (and also happens to love watercolor):

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to enjoy this magical time of year!

Cheers!
~Renee
